Gary Lucks, JD, CPEA is a progressive author, activist, and environmental attorney. He has spent four decades at the intersection of law, policy, and sustainability, advising leaders, teaching future changemakers, and contributing to landmark legislation. He has written environmental policy briefing papers for California Governor Gavin Newsom and the late U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein, among other elected officials. In addition, Gary has co-authored an environmental text book and has written over 50 environmental law articles. He is also adjunct faculty at The Presidio Graduate School’s sustainability MBA program.
As the founder of Progressive Action East Bay and Resistance Action East Bay, Gary has mobilized communities to raise millions of dollars and support Democrats in critical swing districts. His organizing work has grown into one of the most active grassroots networks in California.
Gary’s debut book, You Are Not Alone: Your Roadmap to Effective Political Action, distills his lifetime of activism into a practical guide for citizens who want to resist authoritarianism, protect democracy, and build a more just future.
